Day 21 – Countre jour

Today I had a long walk on along a big lake here in Bucharest, called Lacul Morii (in translation would be something like “The mill lake”). I waited for the sunset, to have warm colours. I decided to try and capture the sunset, but something was not right. All the scenery was flat and dull. I spotted some interesting grass and decided to go with a close up in the foreground, and in the background to have the sunset and the water. I took several shots, and it really was hard to chose the best of them, bug here it is!

Cya!

Day 20 – Busy bee

I can’t believe it’s been 20 days since I have started the project. 20 hard days of getting outside the comfort zone and start shooting everyday, finding a possible subject for the photo of the day. Sometimes it’s easy, sometimes it’s hard. There are days where inspiration is hard to find but many times the subject is sitting in front of you, you just have to look closer. I fell that it’s starting to become a habit to have your camera with you all the time and to try and see a possible frame in the surroundings. Today was a day where I got out and had no idea what to do, but it was in front of me all the time. I wanted to take a picture of a flower, that was in my mind and here it was, buzzing around. A little bee that was working hard for the hive.

See you tomorrow!

Day 19 – Expose yourself

Today we got out to see an improvisation show. On the stage the performers don’t have a script, they have to improvise what the public tells them so that’s a pretty hard thing to do. Now, before the show started everybody in the room looked like they had some pretty deep conversations about art and that they have something to show off even they aren’t even close to do that. At least, on the walls there were some pretty interesting sculptures.

See you!

Day 18 – It’s stretch time

Since it’s weekend, I grabbed my gear and went for a walk in the Botanic Garden in Bucharest. Today I had my Canon with me and the tele lens, a 70-200 f4 L. When I got there I was impressed by how green was the garden. I tried to capture some birds, even some little kids who were teasing a cat which curiously I think it wanted to hunt something because she didn’t seem to care. Anyway, after deciding to head home I stopped near a little lake in the centre of the garden and there I saw a mother duck with her 5 little ducks. Some of them were playing, but two of them were sitting on top of a rock and having a stretch after their bath. And boy, they looked happy!

See you tomorrow!

Day 17 – Meet Darius

Today my uncle visited Bucharest so the whole family decided to meet in Herastrau, the largest park in town. I arrived earlier so that I could take some photos for today. After some time, I decided to sit on a bench and started to photograph people passing by. Then, a kid showed out of nowhere in front of me with his bike and surprised me a little. Without hesitating, I was fast enough to take him a picture. Then I saw that in fact he is Darius, my nephew. He is almost 7 years old and one of his passions is to ride his bike in the park. Of course, I managed to take another snapshots of him and his brother who arriver after a little while, but this one I love because of the clarity and composition.

See you tomorrow!

Day 16 – Time warp

I usually take the subway from work to home, but today was a special case when my colleague Mihai offered a ride home. On the way home, we used a bridge to cross the town quicker. Since the speed limit there is higher, the camera caught a nice tunnel effect of the bridge.

See you tomorrow!

Day 15 – Meet the Yocties

Meet the fellow Yocties. There’s been exactly one year since Yocto project arrived in Romania. In order to celebrate that and to have more manpower to the project, the Yocties are the new fellows that joined our team here in Romania. They’ve come here with fresh new forces to help us and also to keep up the good mood. They are cool guys (everybody wears sunglasses) and they represent the elementary particles of our universe.

Day 14 – Off the job

Today was a very long day at work. Some of our colleagues from abroad came over and after the working hours we headed to the Old Town to have a team dinner. After it got late, one by one of us started to head home. Since I was in the old city, I took the opportunity to put my camera into action. This street performer fellow got my attention since I remember him from the last years working on the street, entertaining people. The difference between him and us is that his workplace and his “going out place” are actually the same place, the Old Town and he seems to be happy and have fun here.

See you tomorrow!

Day 12 – Street dance flash mob

Today is the last day of my two week holiday, and since yesterday I am back in Bucharest. In the capital there are many opportunities to do various stuff, like street dancing. I love watching break dance and street dance competitions and today I decided to try and learn how to dance by attending a street dance class recommended by a very good friend of mine, Vali. My girlfriend was interested too so the three of us attended today the class. At the end of the class, the instructor told us that there will be a a flash mob after we finish in the Old Town so we went straight there and we watched how many dance performers danced and battled. The show was awesome and the dancers had some real nice moves.
